And the winner is....

Tonight Brady and I went to the Best of State Awards Gala at the Salt Palace. We had to go accept an award for my company- Reaveley Engineers. They won best Structural Engineer in the state. It was a black tie affair, I wore one of my old prom dresses, and Brady borrowed his brother, Jordan's tux. We were lookin' good! I especially loved my little purse I got to carry around. So we had a nice dinner, I went up on stage with all the other winners in the Science and Technology category (about 15 companies in engineering, web development, research, computers, etc. ) and they gave us all medals. Then they chose a winner from each category. My company has gotten best Structural Engineer for 5 or 6 years in a row and never have they gotten best in Science and Technology award. So, I figured the chances were pretty slim. But, then they announced the winners, "And the winner is.... Reaveley Engineers + Associates!" I couldn't believe it! I had to go up on stage, a video camera in my face, and give an acceptance speech in front of hundreds of people! It was so crazy!
They are going air it on Channel 2 sometime... I'll keep you all posted. But, it was awesome! Everyone was congratulating us. The statue was was sooo heavy! I could hardly carry it. But, it was a great night! We felt very important!

Talkin' in My Sleep

So I've mentioned on here before, and some of you have even heard it yourselves, but I often talk in my sleep. I need to just start a regular feature on here updating you of the latest psycho thing I said in my sleep. Four nights this week Brady said I've been talking in my sleep. I've said completely incoherent and random things and I have no idea why my slumbering mind conjured them up.

On Sunday night Brady said I was wrestling around and he said, "Are you okay?" and I answered "We're good, we're good….. fantasy… YOU ROCK!" What the?! I have no idea.

Then Monday night I said to Brady in my sleep, "Hey go put this roll over there by the other ones, there's ten of them." He answered back, "Okay." And I said, "Thanks sweets." I have no idea. I don't remember dreaming about any rolls.

Tuesday night I said "I love the fur." Brady answered back, "You do?" and I said, "Yes." Then I snuggled up next to Brady.

Then on Thursday night I was falling asleep and I caught myself talking, I was about to say, "How many times have you been in this courthouse?" But, I caught my self and just said, "How many times...." Then I woke up and laughed my head off. It was weird!

David Archuleta Sightings!

So, as many of you know, I'm a HUGE American Idol fan, and I love David Archuleta. I read in the paper that he was going to sing the National Anthem at the Jazz/Lakers game on Friday, and I just had to go! So Brady pulled some strings and got us two tickets.

So I was so pumped for the Jazz game all day. I listened to David Archuleta on 97.1 in the morning. Then later on, at work we heard a bunch of screams! I looked out to across the street to Trolley Corners, where there are a bunch of radio stations. There was a stretch truck and a police car. I knew it must be DAVID! So I waited in the nearest window, camera ready, and got some shots of David coming out!

Then he sang at the Jazz game and did an amazing job! After he sang, he sat in like the 5th row with his body guard and his family. But, no one would leave him alone. There was a constant flow of people to get his autograph. He was clear across the arena, so I didn't go see him. But, it was just awesome to see him from a distance.

Peru

Hello Everyone! We are back from Peru! I know I promised to update my blog while I was in Peru, but it was pretty busy and it didn't go quite as we planned.

We went to Lima and toured the city sites, which was awesome! We got to see some great friends, members, converts, etc. Brady loved the people just like I do. Brady did great with the food, and he loved Inca Kola (the "famous" Peruvian soda pop). We visited tons of families and gave them clothes and money that we collected from friends, family, ward members, and work people. It was such an awesome experience.

But, our awesome trip came to an abrupt and disappointing end. The last day in Lima, we were robbed at gunpoint. We were in an area that I considered safe, it was in the middle of the day, and there were even kids playing in the street. We were right across the street from the family's house where I used to live. We stopped to put the map away, and two guys came up on us. They hit Brady in the head with a gun and got away with our video camera. It was a terrifying experience! Luckily Brady only had to get two stitches. We are so thankful that we are both okay and that it wasn't worse. But, after that, we were too scared to keep traveling and we got the first flight home that we could. I have never been so grateful to be in the US again. And so grateful that Brady is okay. I can't stop looking at him and hugging him! I love him so much!

Even though it ended horribly, we really did have a wonderful time. Words just can't describe the joy I felt to see my converts again...still strong and faithful in the church! I was so incredibly grateful to see them again!

Costing us an Arm and a Leg, but mostly an ARM!

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. We've been busy getting ready for our Peru trip! We leave April 25th and we are stoked. But, last week we had to go to the health department to get vaccinations. Brady had to have more shots, because I got all of them when I went to Peru. But, I still had to update a couple shots. But, poor Brady got ready for his two shots, and the nurse had NO MERCY! She just stuck him BAM! And then without warning the other one! BAM! I was watching and couldn't believe how fast and hard she did it. Blood gushed out of Brady's arm, which I've never seen either with a shot! Poor Brady couldn't move his arm for 3 days, and he's got a nasty bluish yellowish bruise. He still has the bruise and he got the shots almost a week ago! I've never seen anything like it! Then he had to go in a few days later for another shot. Poor guy! So all these shots are costing an arm and a leg... but mostly they are costing an arm... Brady's arm! But, it's better to be safe than sorry!

You May or May not Know

What were you doing 10 years ago?
10 years ago I was 15 years old. I was working as a checker at the only grocery store in Grantsville- Soelberg's, and I made $5.15 an hour. (I think the checkers still make $5.15 and hour there!) I was on the yearbook staff, I was on the drill team, and I was on the track team. I went snowboarding for the first time. I had a big crush on Brad Johnson (a family friend from Arizona.) Once I turned 16, we dated for a year and a half.

I loved my friends, we would have so much fun! I would drive around with them, because I couldn't drive yet and they were all a year older than me. We would have sleepovers, talk about boys, go to the movies. Life was great!

5 Things on my to do list today:
1. Play a hilarious joke on my mom for April Fool's day (CHECK!)
2. Pick up the travel documents to go to Peru (CHECK!)
3. Scan in some photos of Peru
4. Vaccuum
5. Watch American Idol

My favorite treats:
Cheesecake, anything with chocolate, mint chocolate chip ice cream, brownies.

3 bad habits (or things I would change about myself)
1. I tend to think that everyone thinks like me, and when they do stuff that I wouldn't do or think in a way I don't think, I get frustrated. I need to be more understanding.
2. I let things get cluttered.
3. I pop my knuckles... I really need to quit!

If I were suddenly a billionaire, I would...
Go to Peru... wait I'm already doing that. I would go buy new shoes and purses! I would go get the dent in my car door fixed, actually I'd just get a whole new car! I would send money to peeps in Peru. I would BUY A HOUSE in a nice neighborhood, not in the ghetto (which is all we could afford now). I would buy season tickets to the Jazz (for Brady, not for me ;) I'd make a scholarship at BYU in MY NAME! Then I'd hand the rest over to Brady so he could invest it- he's good with money.

Places I have lived:
Grantsville
American Fork
Provo

Jobs I've had:
Server at the Ivy Garden

Advertising Saleswoman for LDS Living Magazine
Graphic Designer for BYU Theatre/Media Arts

Marketing Coordinator for Reaveley Engineers

5 things most people don't know about me...
1. I hate it when things beep- like the microwave, the oven timer, or the dryer. I try to stop it before it beeps!
2. One of my pet peeves is when you step on something wet when you have socks on, then you have soggy socks.
3. I have been within arms reach of or shaken hands with: Pres. Hinckley, Pres. Monson, Pres. Faust, Pres. Uchtdorf, Elder Oaks, Elder Holland, the Presiding Bishopric.
4. I can't drive a stick shift- it is physically impossible for me! I can't reach to push the clutch in all the way.
5. I always have to put some kind of sauce on my food- ranch, tarter sauce, BBQ Sauce, gravy... whatever... I just need moisture on my food!

5 people I would like to tag are... Kendra, Holly, JaNeanne, Lacey, Amber
