St. George

We ran away to St. George for the weekend to celebrate our 5th Anniversary.

One of our first stops was the St. George Temple.

It is so beautiful up close!  And they must have just painted it, because it was WHITE!

The flowers and the grounds were absolutely gorgeous.

We then hit up the St. George Tabernacle (not pictured) and Brigham Young's home.  It was neat to learn about the history of this area.  I had done these tours as a youth, but I care a lot more about it now.

Up on the red rocks over looking the city.

We ate dinner at a place called the Gun Barrel.  It was right up Brady's alley: Elk steak, buffalo prime rib, and  BBQ buffalo ribs. It was pretty yummy!

We drove up above town to see the city at night- gorgeous!

Then one last stop to see the Temple at night.  It was stunning!

The next morning we went to tour the  historic Jacob Hamblin home.

After the Hamblin home we wandered around for a few minutes and happened to find this street!  Rachel Drive!  The craziest thing happened while we were stopped to take this picture.  An older couple on bikes stopped to talk to us.  As we got talking somehow we figured out that the lady and my dad are second cousins!  She knew all about our family's history and everything.  She even invited us to their home and showed me some old family photos and stuff.  What are the chances!?

Then we took a scenic drive through Snow Canyon.

I got brave and took a short little hike to go see these pioneer names that are written on the rocks.  My poor feet were swollen up like watermelons after that.

We stopped on our little hike and talked to a rock climber that was about to climb this cliff.  By the time we got to our car he was about 3/4 of the way up.  Can you spot him?

On our way home we stopped on toured the historic Cove Fort.  Once again, I've been there before, but it means a whole lot more to me now.

It was such a fun and needed weekend away!  Too bad we had to come back to the cold and wind!  But, it's always nice to be home and of course we missed our little Stock-man!
